Potato Masala / Poori Masala

INGREDIENTS:

  • Potato – 4 numbers
  • Onion (Medium) 2 numbers
  • Peas – ½ cup
  • Channa dal – 1 tsp
  • Chopped ginger – 1 slice
  • Chopped green chili – 2 numbers
  • Coriander leaves – 1 bunch
  • Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves – 1 spring
  • Lemon juice – 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  • Mustard – 1 tsp
  • Urad dal – 1 tsp
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Red chili whole – 2 numbers
  • Salt – to taste

PREPARATION:

  • Take a pressure cooker, add the potatoes and add water, cook it for 2 whistles.
  • Drain all the water from Potato, peal the skin and cut the potatoes into cubes. Make sure potatoes not to be mushy.
  • Cook the peas and drain the water.
  • Heat oil, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds when it splutters, add channa dal , urad dal, red chili, chopped ginger and fry till reddish in color.
  • Add the chopped onions, green chilies and curry leaves and fry till onions are cooked. Add turmeric, and fry for 1/2 minute.
  • Add the potatoes, cooked peas, salt, lemon juice and coriander leaves. For dosa masala you can use as it is. For poori side dish you can add some water while cooking and mix it well.
  • Serve it hot with Poori. It can be used as masala for Masala Dosai.
